Breeders defend the Akita Inu.

After an horrific attack by two Japanese Akita dogs on a couple and their beagle in Didsbury, North of Calgary in Canada. Read here how the man ended up needing 600 stitches. Are they bad dogs or did they feel their puppies were under threat? Either way, this is really bad news for dogs and for the reputation of the breed. As the President of the Alberta Akita Club has stated, while this sort of attack isn't common for Akitas, they are a large and strong working breed which are characteristic of loyal and protective behaviour and must be owned by a very responsible owner. Read more about the breed here.
