Queensland dog catches the Hendra virus

In a story more akin to horror-movies about monkey virus outbreaks and the like, a beautiful working Kelpie at a remote Queensland property has fallen ill with the deadly Hendra virus.

So what is the Hendra Virus? In short, it's a virus that Pteropid Fruit Bats (known as Flying Foxes) carry which if passed onto animals and humans, can prove fatal. Read the article here and see why the authorities may force the owners to have the little Kelpie put down.

Gosh, so much sad news with Dogs this week. I need to find a happy dog story for our readers. Standby.
